Channel 6, just announced he died today

From Channel 4
The 81-year-old lawyer practiced law for more than 55 years and had become a legal icon after being defending suspects in odd and memorable cases, using unconventional arguments. Among the cases he defended was that of child murderer Lionel Tate, which made news headlines as many of his cases often did.

He was a staunch opponent of the death penalty as well.

He is survived by a wife, children and several grandchildren.

Funeral services are taking place Thursday, Dec. 14 at Riverside Memorial Chapel, 1920 Alton Road, at 11:30am in Miami Beach.

I remember some of his more ridiculous cases: Kathy Willets (the prozac defense for prostitution), Lionel Tate (who I always thought was a guilty jerk and never believed the wrestling crap), and that kid years ago who became a murderer because of violent tv. I don't remember the name, but remember he was found guilty.

He was a fine example of what is wrong with the legal profession in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more. I have the Christmas Time In Hell song from South Park in my head just thinking about him.
