better security than The Meadows gatehouse :D.... I just saw a new user logged in and it said he was creating a new thread. There was a STOP sign next to his name. The icon next to it said he was viewing the "no permission" message. The next thing I noticed the user disappear.

It was probably going to be spam for viagra or something.

I think vbulletin has an excellent program. I get about 5 new users applying for membership everyday. 99% of the time they are not authorized and never become a member. Even though we do not get a lot of post we get 300-500 unique users each month.

Non registered users or guest are only allowed to view 5(?) pages on a non private forums before they get a stop sign and are told they need to register. Registering only allows them to view more page when I authorize them and they become a member.

I've had 1 spammer get by me a few weeks ago and it was on the weekend, his first post and thread was shut down 5 minutes after he posted it. Most of the post I view post thru email. A copy of every post is sent to my Blackberry and if I see something wrong I can sign on and delete or shut down the thread.

One of the reasons I've setup email is because the software to me is secure and emails are private. To the best of my knowledge they can not be viewed by anyone. I assign a temporary password and ask the user to change the password before doing anything else.
