CLEARWATER, Fla. (Nov. 30) - Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.

Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

He looked closer to 89, The guy was a nut
I remember we watched him as a kids, then we would go out and try stuff on our Schwinn's.

He certainly was a nut, and I am sure the odds were against him even living to age 69.

Yeah that's what I thought Steve! I can't believe he lived that long remembering all the crashes I saw him in on TV.
