Am I the only one more than a little nervous about the huge power outage in LAX (the city, not the airport) right now?

After yesterday's news, I'm wondering about the timing.

It is suspicious, for sure. Plus there are fires in the horizon. What are they NOT telling us?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Utility workers connected the wrong wires and caused a blackout across major portions of Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, trapping people in elevators and snarling traffic at intersections, authorities said.

About 2 million people were affected by the resulting power surge and outages, which were reported from downtown west to the Pacific Coast and north into the San Fernando Valley.

Much of the power, which failed at about 12:30 p.m., was restored within less about 2 1/2 hours; all power was expected to restored by 5 p.m.

It's a big relief to know that it was nothing more than human error and not something much more sinister. Thank God.

i honestly can't imagine that the next big plan the terrorists have is to cause a black out in california. they lose power so often i'm surprised it even made the news.

I realize that, but it made the news because it came on the heels of yesterday's news about Al Qaeda's plan to attack L.A. and Melbourne.

Did you see the latest taped message from the terrorists? This guy was from CA (I think) and converted to Muslim. I saw it on the news. His face was covered beneath his eyes with a black cloth and he was saying death to the infidels and that we should have our throats slit. Gosh, his parents must be so proud! If they had any friends I'm sure they don't any more after that tape aired.

I saw it and it's funny that you mention it, but I almost completely blame the parents.

Of course, there is the off chance that he was just led astray...

We give these a--holes such power. They were a--holes before 9-11 and they're still a--holes.

We should be shaking in our boots..not from them..but from our own inefficiency and ineptitude.

I don't understand the last part of your post.

Our inefficiency and ineptitude at what? Are you talking about us causing the blackout? Are you talking about us trying to avoid another terrorist attack? Are you talking about past attacks? I don't follow.

Did anyone watch the 9/11 specials they had on the National Geo (or maybe it was the History Channel) on Sunday? One thing that stuck in my head was one of the terrorists said "the west values life, we value death". That is it in a nutshell. I for one would like to hand them all the death they would care to take. We should not let our guard down as there are people out there planning to kill USA citizens at this very minute in the most brutal ways they can imagine! They are also teaching young ones to do the job in case they can not do it themselves.

The terrorists are a very small group of thugs who elevated and organized themselves much better since 9/11.

We knew prior to 9/11 that this was going to happen, but no one in government took any action and no one in government was fired after the fact for ineptitude and inefficiency.

What I'm saying is that we are making them into so much more than they once were...each time ther's a disaster...it' terrorism that comes to mind.

We were the greatest country on the planet and now we're like sniveling victims. Is Osama in jail? No.

You kind of lost me at "very small group" of thugs. If only.

It's a matter of perception, isn't it?

Must be, because it's not a small group by any stretch of the imagination.

I think they are a small group when compared to the numbers of law abiding Muslims there are in the world.

You're absolutely correct; it's a small group by comparison.
