We went Tuesday night and it was amazing. It was my second time seeing Phantom and it was as wonderful as I remember it. I confess...I cried :(

How does it end? My husband couldn't take it and we left during intermission. We had literally the best seats in the house.

Why couldn't your husband take it YogaMom?
I was going to get tickets but heard that it wasn't very good. People here seem to have enjoyed it though so.....?

Yoga, I would have told my hubby to wait in the lobby for me!!! After the intermission, the Opera house rebuilds and the chandelier (sp?) goes back up. He sends his demands and also wrote a new opera in which Cristine is to sing the lead; the night of the opera, the Phantom kills Don Juan (the fat male opera singer) and takes Cristine back to his "home." He has dressed her as a bride and gives her a ring. She is of course a bit freaked out! Raoul comes to save her and gives his life for hers. Cristine, in an attempt to soften the Phantom, to show him some affection that the world denied him, kisses him. He is in fact moved by the kiss, and sets her and Raoul free on the promise that they would tell no one what happened. They leave singing "All I ask of you." What made me cry was when the Phantom, hearing them sing as they sailed away, added his own chorus to Cristine: "You alone can make my soul take flight." Of course, he is left heartbroken and crying--telling Cristine he loved her; but she had left w/ Raoul. The opera people arrive and he has escaped, leaving only the mask.
Sigh...I find it incredible that some people could not appreciate the art, beauty, and TALENT on that stage.

I knew going into it that this wasn't going to be for him. I couldn't sit thru the second half knowing he was miserable.

Your comment is the truth! I should have taken my daughter with me.
