I had heard they are building a Costco on Dykes and Pines. The really nice thing I just heard the other day is that this one will have gas pumps. I take advantage of the one in Pompano if I have to be up that way and have found that premium is cheaper than most places' regular gas price. With gas prices so high it will be nice to have Costco gas closer as I'm in Pembroke Pines pretty often.

Good to know. Whenever we're in Miami, we go to the one in Miami Lakes. I love it because it's never as crowded as the one we go to on Long Island (Lawn Guyland).

I'd like any of you to show me with official stats that crime in western Pines is any different than Weston. You'd be surprised at having your own police department will do to help reduce criminal activity. Rofl Rofl

Happydad, I'm not saying this to make you angry, but this is a true story. Honest, you'll get a chuckle out of it.

About two years ago, when my husband and I still had our options open, I suggested he go speak to a Pines police officer. I figured if he told him that he was also on the job, the gentleman would speak more freely. His advice? He said, "Move to Weston, like I did."

That's because the Weston Dunkin Donuts is less crowded than the one in Pines.

Oh okay. I must've taken it the wrong way. LOL

We have a thing up here in New York, for example when Hempstead, Long Island went bad, the people in the GOOD section decided to call themselves West Hempstead. Anytime you divide a town or community into North, East, West or South, the handwriting is on the wall.

That's done here mostly because the newer, nicer homes that were developed over the last 10 years are "west" of I-75. But you're right, it also reflects the residents wishing to "clarify" where in Pembroke Pines they live.

I have many clients in Pembroke Pines. I think the houses are very similar to those in Weston.

In fact, the only negative thing I heard about it was the other day from a lady I met in Sam's Club. She told me that many of the neighbors were not friendly and would just turn their heads away rather than say hello. I laughed and told her it was nice to know they had snobs too as we have plenty in Weston. I think her area must be much like the Meadows. She said they originally paid $250,000 for the house and now they were selling around $700,000.

She is the one who told me that the new Costco was to have gas pumps. I think most of the men on our board would love to have met her. Very attractive and friendly. She has four boys.

How is it fair to cherry pick? thats like saying lets remove Savanna because there was a murder there.

If you compare cities you have to include everything. I'm not looking through rose colored glasses, I know with the addition of the Bonaventure area the numbers in Weston will rise.

Anyhoo, when is that Costco opening...:)

I don't think I heard about the family murdered in Savanna. It was an entire family? Did they find out who did it?

If the house is really for sale, do you guys know where it is? We're looking at houses and I don't want any surprises. I don't want to live in a house where a tragedy has taken place. Seriously, if anyone knows this information, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

No recent murders in Savanna. There was one a couple years ago, the guy murdered his wife and created an alibi that was ridiculous. It already came to trial and he was acquitted. Apparently a jury full of morons. Last I heard her family was pursuing a civil claim against him.

the house was on areca way. i think that is across the street from the savanna commons but don't have a map in front of me.

it was a husband who murdered his wife. he beat and strangled her. i think she was a teacher. the scumbag husband claimed she dissappeared at the mall. i think the guy got found not guilty (hooray for our great jury system), and high tailed it to denmark with his daughter.

these are the basics as i remember them. i'm sure someone else knows the complete story.

Thanks.

Actually, we're familiar with that story. We kept up with it for a while and wondered what happened to the guy. Now I'm sick that he was acquitted. Freaking ridiculous.

So he took his daughter to Denmark with him? I remember reading that her family in Puerto Rico were desperately trying to get the little girl to come live with them (and she absolutely should).

Anyway, I was thrown for a loop when someone on here mentioned a family that was murdered as I'd never heard of that.

Gosh, I definitely don't want that house.
