Oh, I wish him a speedy recovery. It is a bit of a tough road ahead; I'll be thinking of you and your family.

HappyDad, I hope he gets along as well as my Dad did. He had 5 heart bypasses in October 2001. He wasn't even in the hospital a week. He was tired and weak for a while, but recovered beautifully. I swear I think it was harder on us as we were worried to half to death.

I'll keep your Dad in my prayers.

Thanks for the wishes. He's turning 84 in December. He had 2 valves replaced and one repaired, along with a hole repair and a bypass. Last week he had a fibrillator/pacemaker installed. He's in incredible good spirits and the doctors are amazed at his ability to bounce back so quickly (he's in rehab now).

He sounds like an amazing man, Happydad. What do you attribute his endurance to?

Some of it might be genetics (I hope) but he and my Mom have always been very active - friends, socializing, parties, volunteering, bowling (until he had hip replacement surgery). My Mom at 75 still plays tennis 3 times a week.
They also love to eat (they are not obese).
