Monday memorial set for 'Skipper Chuck' at Boca cemetery

BOCA RATON – A public memorial service has been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, for local radio and TV personality "Chuck" Zink, the longtime host of the popular Skipper Chuck Popeye Playhouse on area TV.
Family, friends and fans can attend the memorial at the Gardens Memorial Park, 4103 N. Military Trail, and leave personal messages at the West Wall of the cemetery. Various radio, TV personalities and community leaders are expected to attend the memorial and eulogize Zink.
Charles "Chuck" Zink, who spent 22 years as children's show host Skipper Chuck on South Florida television, died on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, not far from his home. He was 80. He started Popeye Playhouse on Channel 4 in 1957. His later Skipper Chuck's Show went off the air in 1979. Thousands of area children attended the shows' during their 22-year run.
In later years, he also hosted two other shows, The American Senior Side and Saturday Night's Big Bands on WXEL. In addition, he was host of The Lunch Bunch on WJNA, an AM radio station broadcasting from Fort Lauderdale.

In the paper today, I read that he was the first spokesperson for Burger King. :)
