If you watch the QuickTime moive (http://www.zbikes.net/)on Z's site you may be able to pick out multiple posters here and on NC.

Cool.

My husband went to a bike store somewhere in Weston last week. He was looking at bikes because he's in the market.

And only just this Sunday, did we even realize that there was a bike store right in Glades Circle, which is right by us!

See that big blue Q to the right of the knee warmers? That is the Quicktime move loading area, also look at the bottom of your browser window and you will see the loading progress. It is a fairly big file and takes a minute to load. You need to have Quicktime installed (free).

Was that Rt. 27 you were riding along. That is part of my plan for a bike path around Weston.

That was US27 to South Bay and back. That was a longer ride than usual, but does give a perspective of how long a bike path would need to be. I had 95 miles in for that ride.

Why isn't it just any bike store?

And isn't US27 too heavily travelled to be used as a bike path? There is a rather rugged path just across the canal from our backyard (in Savanna). Can that work?

I hope so. It would be totally cool to be able to see from just about any room in my house, people biking by.

.

It is THE bike store for many local racers. They sell bikes at all ranges and Alex or Nick will take good care of you & Bobby.

Z's isn't just any bike store because of the service, knowledge, and brands. Alex himself is a former pro rider, has numerous trophies for both road and mountain. (He has even raced against Lance Armstrong and several others on the pro circut today). He and one of his employees (John) are considered two of the fastest riders in Florida.

For safety, we had a support vehicle following us. In fact in part of the movie that's me riding behind the Jeep at 32+ mph. The hardcore (ahh... Toad?) brought it up to over 30mph (sometimes 35) the entire 42 mile trip back home.

As for the path, it would need to be paved and REAL LONG to get any type of use by roadies.

we could have a bike trail almost 20 miles long in Weston and be virtually free of auto traffic. It would take funding, but not as much as the tennis club or the skating rink

Would it be connect (one end to another) or an "out and back"? If it were an "out and back" it would have to be a convient turn aroung at the end. It's tough to be gong a t a good clip and then have to slow way down just to turn and go in the other direction.

A nice fat bike lane on both sides of US27 from Miramar Parkway to South Bay would be perfect. It would be approx. 50 miles each way for a nice 100 round trip.

If you go north on US27 it will be the first "town" you come to. The gas station there sells fried chicken, biscuits & gravy on a buffet so you get the idea of the kind of place we are talking about. Git'r Done!:D They really like a bunch of guys in tight shorts. I think I heard one guy say I had a pretty mouth!!!

No that wasn't Toad. The video is a combination of two Sundays. That was from the first one. On that one there was a mean 20+mph crosswind. He was trying to recover enough to get his energy back.

Last week after I was drafting behind the Jeep the driver had to stop for someone that dropped, and couldn't go any further. I continued by myself and when the Jeep caught back up to me I tried hanging on so he could tow me back to the pelaton. It scared the crap out of me and after hitting a small pothole at 40 mph I let go.

I agree, Donna. And the suits can be deceiving. You think a guy has a nice tushie, but then find out it was the padding in the pants.

It's also fun to spot the "posers". Those who have all the gear and toys, but aren't as active in their hobby as some of the others. They have really nice colorful (expensive) shirts and shorts, an obviously expensive bike, and an expensive water-camel system. But when you see them on the road, they have absolutely no muscle definition in the calves or thighs. The bikers I know that ride several hundred miles a week all have well-cut calf muscles that really show well when cycling.

Not that I pay alot of attention, of couse.... :p
