what are your thoughts
here is what the american herritage dictionary defines as sport
1 a) Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
b) A particular form of this activity.
2) An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
3) An active pastime; recreation.
yes golf does meet those but i am more of a purist when it comes to sports
like football and etc........
btw i also dont believe that hunting is a sport like others do

Golf, bowling, billiards, shooting, fishing, curling, and darts are all skills. If you do not elevate your heart rate for an extended period, or if you can drink beer while participating, it is not a sport. BYW chicks dig guys with skillz.;)

Skill. You can be a big fat slob and still drive a car well (that description covers some baseball players). I certainly could not drive at that level because I don't have the skill, but no amount of athletic training would help in attaining that ability. Sports involve, running, jumping, sometimes throwing, pedaling, rowing, climbing, swimming, or similar physical abilities. Sitting in a machine and turning a wheel is not a sport.

Golf would probably only qualify, in my opinion, if you didn't use a cart and carried your clubs the entire course.

Ouch! I am sure some Nascar fans might disagree! :D
(For the record, my son is the Nascar fan and the more he gets into it the more I have been exposed to it and there are some very passionate Nascar fans out there!)

Reminds me of the story a few years ago of the "ass wipe" that flung his club against a rock. It snapped in half, bounced of the rock and speared him in the chest. Doh
