Team Cheap Bastard

I guess I'm now on Team Cheap Bastard. The Panthers called me (twice) to renew my season tickets, but I am letting them go because I just can't swallow the price. The seats were great (center line row 11), but each seat now costs $75 per game plus $8 parking. I had four seats, so doing the math for 43 home games and the bill totals $13,244. I think you could get a car for that amount. Hockey is a great game and I will truly miss the action, but my new seat at home will have leather cushions! I hope none of the millionaire players has to drink cheap beer because I did not buy my seats. Welcome to TCB.

We said the same thing last year, and decided to spend our 5k plus (only 2 seats) by taking an extra vacation. We also miss the games, but the beer fridge is closer and the line is shorter. Good seats are always available if you want to see a particular team (Go Penguins)

I think ticket sales must be hurting because they have great seats available. I remember being on a waiting list for better seats at Miami Arena. I can't see how the average Joe can take his family to see a game unless they sit up so high the players look like they are an inch tall. I remember my teenage son once commenting on how upscale the crowd at Panther games are compared to the Dolphins, but I think he was only looking at the females ;)

We had the funniest two guys behind us at the games when we had season tickets. They were Canadian and played hockey. They would point out all the obvious implants as these women walked up the stairs. It was neat to get to see the same people every year (that sat around us). The price just seemed to get too ridiculous to keep paying.
