Mrs. Hein

I attended FAU for three semesters before I found out we had an ice hockey team!! Mr. Hein and I could have been enjoying hockey during the lockout last year (free for students, $7 for non-students) but the season was over before I found it out. The Owls went 19-6-1 in 2004/05 season, and look like they will continue a great season this year. Home games are at Incredible Ice.
Here's their 2005/06 schedule:

The Florida Atlantic University Owls' Ice Hockey Club is now entering its fourth season of competition in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (Division III). The club was initially formed in the late 1980's and constructed to be a more relaxed recreational program for students. Through the desire and hard work of former students and coaches, the FAU Ice Hockey Club grew overwhelmingly in popularity to become one of the most active and exciting clubs on campus. In 2001 the club was reconstructed to play hockey more competitively and designed to eventually become an elite collegiate ice hockey program. The conclusion of the 2003-2004 Season marked the end of an old era and the beginning of something great. The program commenced its rebuilding phase with the election of FAU Ice Hockey Club President, Lawrence Lavender.
Upon being elected club President, student/player, Lawrence Lavender relinquished his position of goaltender to take on the greater responsibilities of club President and later to become the teams first-ever General Manager. Upon the acquisition of Lavender's two new positions, his first order of active business began with a search for a new Head Coach following the departure of the club's original Coach. After interviews with many qualified candidates, Lavender hired the club's second Head Coach, Tim Kyrkostas.
The 2004-2005 Season, the first full season under the guidance of Lavender and Kyrkostas, consisted of many team achievements. The FAU Ice Hockey Club finished with an astounding winning record of 19-6-1, earning a second place finish in the south region. The club's second place finish led the club to its first-ever appearance in the ACHA Division III National Championship Tournament. The FAU Ice Hockey Club entered the tournament with the ninth seed and faced-off against three of the top eight teams in the competition.
The 2005-2006 Season is expected to be the club's best year in team history. “This promises to be a great season for FAU hockey as we play the last four national champions and the last two runners-up,” said Lavender. “It's going to be a great season to come out and see the action. The atmosphere for our home games is amazing, large crowds, good food and drinks in the restaurant, and a great family environment.” Come out and experience Owls' Hockey Nights in the ‘O-Zone.”
WHERE WILL YOU BE WHEN THE PUCK DROPS?
2005-2006 SEASON
So, yeah, our football team may suck, but the ice hockey team rocks! Go Owls!! F-A-who?
